The Daily Marker 30 day colouring challenge..end of the current challenge..

Hey,

So as it is sadly the last day of wonderful Kathy Rac's The Daily Marker 30 day colouring challenge, I thought I would show you some of the things I have made with my colouring over the last couple of weeks.

I love the colouring challenge, it makes me dig out either NBUS or older stuff that I haven't coloured in a while.

The main card is a Hambo digital stamp, that I cut out on my Silhouette. I coloured the monster with Promarkers. The background stamp is by Echo Park. The sentiment is a mix by Simon Says Stamp and The Alley Way Stamps.

I really love the next card, I recently started tracking down stamps by The Alley Way Stamps, they are no longer in business. This set is called Gotta Bug? I loved those weird germ / bug stamps. All coloured with distress inks. In a way, I wish I had left the monster off...

The card below is another digital stamp, by Dearie Dolls, also cut on the Silhouette. I coloured the cute bunny using Promarkers and added some Stickles for sparkle. The card blank is by Lawn Fawn and the sentiment is by SSS and was already to go and on my desk - love desk scraps.

Here is a NBUS stamp, I have had this birthday monster stamp by Unity for over a year and just never found an appropriate place to use him! The background was already made and in my 'ready made background' folder. The sentiment came with the stamp.

Finally another piece of NBUS, but a new one..I bought this stamp from Joann's on super discount bargain sale and it is by  WhipperSnapper Designs. I love the birdies on the line. The stamp is called The Flock. I kept it simple and coloured it using distress inks and an aquabrush and added a die-cut hello by Simon Says Stamp.

Fun to see a lot of my colouring from the 30 days all together, I really should make a 30 day collage...

And in other news, I have been having a great craft related few weeks, I got an Honorable Mention again over at CASology and I won first place in the Bugaboo Bingo Challenge - AWESOME..

Concord & 9th Thanks..

Hey,

Happy Monday!!!

Time to get back to normal, post Thanksgiving, but with my family and friends in town it's going to be hard!!

After all the rushing around, I think that soothing cards seem to be in order..

I love this Concord & 9th set from the October release. I recently bought the dies, so thought I would have another play with the set.

Both cards are super simple and I only used 3 colours of ink on each card. I am loving this new trend for leaving bits of the die-cut in..very clever.

I am also slightly obsessed by Nuvo Crystal Drops - I used Silver Moondust on the card below.

Simple but really effective.

CASology..Soft...

Hey,

So it's the last day of the Thanksgiving break (that went quick).

My good friend and her boyfriend are in town this week and so I am excited to be spending some time with them, starting today with brunch.

My Ma arrives tomorrow, along with our Goddaughter, her boyfriend her Mum and other family members to celebrate her 21st birthday. So this week is going to be cray cray.

So let's have a bit of calm first shall we :)

I have been playing along with CASology challenges - I really like the cue cards, they have been really inspiring my creative juices and I have been lucky enough to get two honorable mentions..isn't that lovely.

Here is this week's cue -

I decided to use a great stamp (MFT Knit Happens) given to me recently by a friend. I felt inspired to use it because I am in the midst of crocheting the world's ugliest blanket LOL, but it is also the softest thing ever.

It's ugly because the wool is 'borrowed' from everyone I know who has spare wool, so it doesn't match..I fly a lot for work and I hate to fly and crocheting de-stresses me.

I love wool or yarn as my American friends call it :)

Anyway..back to my card. I coloured the stamp using Distress Inks and an aquabrush and stuck with 'soft' colours. I added a bit of sparkle using Stickles on her hat.

The sentiment is by The Alley Way Stamps..

Sketch Saturday #440

Hey,

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving.

Hubby and I had an awesome time with Cheiron and her family..so grateful for friends that welcome us into their homes.

I'm back with another great challenge from the Sketch Saturday team.

This week's Sketch Saturday challenge sponsor is The Paper Shelter

I decided to use the great 26 December stamp..I like the idea of Santa having a snooze after all that hard work!

I printed him onto watercolour paper and then coloured him with distress inks and an aquabrush, I added the sentiment from an Avery Elle stamp set.

I found a great piece of patterned present paper in my Christmas stash and thought that worked well here. Instead of banners I used ribbon, wrapped around 3 times to match the sketch.

I used one of my fave glittery stars to complete the card.

I like how it's come out and another great addition to my Christmas card pile.

Your turn to join in the fun - go over to Sketch Saturday and be inspired by the rest of the DT makes.

The challenge ends 2nd December 7pm GMT / 5pm EST.

Concord & 9th Flower Christmas...

Hey,

Happy Black Friday!!

Obvs. I am a total consumer and so will be shopping today, mainly online, but I might venture out, the City is always quiet over Thanksgiving weekend.

There are only 5 more days left of the current The Daily Marker Colouring Challenge (boo) and today I am showing you cards I made using my colouring from a week ago.

The stamp is a new-ish one by Concord & 9th..I was SO tempted to buy the entire November release, but resisted..

I bought this set and these dies. Restraint exercised.

I love this stamp, it's huge and amazing to colour.

I broke out distress inks and an aquabrush and I am so pleased with the shading, especially on the main card. The bigger green leaves were done with just one colour of ink - yay!

I also went to town with the Nuvo Crystal drops..they are pretty damn awesome.

Both of the cards are going to be Christmas cards, but the one below hasn't had the sentiment added yet.

Because the image is so full of colour, I kept the background mats plain.

Really beautiful cards that I am super pleased with, they will be going to special peeps.

Happy Thanksgiving...

Hi,

So today is totally a time to give thanks, not just to eat and figure out what to buy on Black Friday.
Although I do confess the eating and the shopping are pretty awesome too..

This year Cheiron has invited Hubby and I to spend Thanksgiving with her and her family - so very kind.

We love being adopted by people over Thanksgiving and we have spent two very awesome Thanksgivings with the Nixon family and friends.

I am so very thankful and grateful for all the awesome people I have in my life, way to many to mention, but today I am going to give special thanks for the recipient of my card (Lawn Fawn and Prima Marketing Stamps).

JT..she is really special, she keeps allowing me to gatecrash her life (The Nixon's are her parents, she helped me get my job, you see where this is going..). I am not sure what I did before her and I know I am never letting her get away!

Some of the funniest, craziest moments of the last 6 years of my life involve her and I wouldn't change a minute of it.

She was also the first person I met that shared my craft love and it continues to be a very special part of our friendship.

So today whilst I am eating Turkey with new friends, I will be raising my glass to her.

Love you man. And super thankful for you.

Wishing for Flip Flop Weather...

Hey,

So a while ago I saw someone on Instagram / Pinterest use this great stamp by Your Next Stamp..

I had to have it (Instagram / Pinterest hurt my wallet).

I love it, as you know JT and I have a crab thing..long long story. I figured I could get some milage out of this bad boy.

I stamped and die-cut him out, I coloured him using Zig Clean Color brush pens. Love the shading I do so easily with these pens.

This card was the inspiration for my background -
Card by Kate at Small Bits of Paper
I liked the idea of using just 2 inks to get the background.

For a bit of interest I chose to use a wood line stamp by Prima Marketing for my background and used Salty Ocean and Mustard Seed inks for my sky/sand. I spritzed the stamp with water before laying down my paper and I just LOVE the effect I got. I die-cut it out using stitched rounded dies by MFT.

This card didn't actually go to JT, it went to Queen of the Flip Flop - Jenn Shurkus..she loves Flip Flops and the sea and summer, so it was naturally a card for her!

Also I got another Honorable Mention over at CASology for my Embrace entry, how nice is that, what a wonderful start to the holidays.

Retro Rubber #52..Let's get sketchy...

Hey,

It's time for another fun  challenge over at Retro Rubber

This time, we want you to use the sketch -

I love sketches and for this one I had something in mind..but when I tried it out, I wasn't in love..

So I rummaged through my stamps and saw the awesome Reindeer Games set by Art Impressions, I bought it last November when it was released at Michael's making it just over a year old.

I love the sassy lady dressed as a Reindeer / elf. I coloured her using distress inks, aquabrush and promarkers. I then fussy cut her out.

I thought she needed Reindeer paper and so I hunted through my Christmas papers for the scrap you see here. I added a glittery panel for the other border.

I used some creative license and moved the sentiment up the card a bit, but I am guessing Jane will let me have that :)

I know who I am sending this too, my parents have a very sassy neighbour and I bet she would go to a Christmas party dressed as a Reindeer/Elf LOL.

Show us your interpretation of the sketch and head over to Retro Rubber and view the awesome makes by my teammates.

Challenge ends on December 2nd. Don't forget to use a stamp a year or older and tell us about it that's part of the fun. Also, please limit your entries to 10 challenges including ours.

Bugaboo Thanksgiving...

Hey,

Happy Monday.

Hope you had a good weekend, can't believe it is nearly Thanksgiving already!!

I really want to enter Bugaboo challenges more, but I always forget!!

This weekend I saw the Bugaboo Catch The Bug November Bingo Challenge and I really liked the bingo card -

I went with the embossing, thanksgiving theme and bugaboo image line.

I started by importing my image (Autumn Jar) into my Silhouette Portrait, so I could cut around it. There were a few Bugaboo images that I wanted to do this with, so did them all at once. I'm fine with fussy cutting, but sometimes it is nice to do it with the Silhouette.

I coloured it using Promarkers and Nuvo Crystal Drops.

The embossing folder is a basketweave one by Sizzix and is one of my faves, I used the reverse side here, as I wanted it to be a bit flatter.

I heat embossed the sentiment onto a coordinating piece of the brown paper, I love this sentiment stamp, it's so detailed and heat embosses really well. So that it had a bit of stand out from the brown, I added a small strip of glitter paper underneath it before affixing it to my card.

I also added a piece of twine under the main image, again to make it pop a bit more.

So glad I played along, this is a fun card and I know where it's heading!

Flower Challenge..

Hey,

So one of my Retro Rubber DT buddies Maria is also on the DT at this new challenge - The Flower Challenge and as I have a rather large flower stamp collection I thought it would be fun to play long.

Their 2nd challenge is on right now and the theme is -

I decided to use a great stamp by Unity Stamp Co. I love their flower jar stamps, in fact I love flower jar stamps full stop!

I coloured it using Distress Inks and an aquabrush. The stunning stitched scalloped die is by Gina Marie Designs.

The sentiment I created using a Simon Says Stamp stamp and die set called Sketchy Banners, I don't think they sell the stamps anymore. I love this set and totally overuse it!

I thought it would be a great card to send to a friend who just got some good news.

300th Post 2016...

Hey,

Earlier this year I hit 1,000 posts on my blog overall.

This is my 300th post this year and it means so much to me.

In a year of seriously hard work and some difficult health issues (I'm fine honest) I am proud that I have managed to focus on my blog.

It means I have managed to carve out time for me, that I have been able to focus on what I love to do.

My image today is from my art journal earlier this month and it seemed appropriate for today.

Having finally achieved 300 posts in one year - I have been trying for 2 years to achieve this goal - I honestly don't know what is next!

This year things that I already knew to be true, have been even more apparent:

- Family is a fun thing
- Friends can save your life
- My Husband is a rockstar and is seriously the best thing to ever happen to me
- Making stuff makes me smile, even when the chips are down
- Walking everyday even just for 5 mins makes my world a better place
- Celebrate everything no matter how small, because if it makes you happy then it counts

I appreciate everyone who takes the time to read my blog and leave me a comment, but as my Hubby says it's good to have an outlet for my randomness.

Embrace the monster hugs...

Hey,

Happy Friday.

Glad that the weekend has rolled around again..ready to do some relaxing..

Again I am playing along with CASology, so happy I found them, I am loving all this CAS playtime..

This week's cue is -

The Monster stamp (Your Next Stamp) might not immediately convey  'Embrace' but when I put it together with the sentiment (Lawn Fawn) it really does..for me.

It reminds me of the hugs that my Hubby gives me when I am sad about stuff.

I kept it super clean, just stamped the sentiment onto a die-cut stitched panel and added my Monster..I love these Monster stamps, they are going to be so over used!

Have a great weekend.

Anniversary Elephants...

Hey,

I am still on my craft roll :) I got an Honorable Mention over at CASology - how cool is that!!

In keeping with the CAS spirit, I thought I'd show you a card I recently made for a friends Anniversary.

I love the Lawn Fawn mini stamp sets and these Elephants are just too cute.

I kept it super simple and let the Elephants do all the work..I coloured and die-cut them and popped them up, to make it even more Anniversary I added 2 stamped hearts from the set.

The sentiment is ancient and by Hero Arts, it is one of my default Anniversary stamps and if you saw it you would laugh, it barely clings now and is totally stained with ink!

Color Throwdown #419 Guest Designer...

Hey,

I am delighted to be joining the Color Throwdown DT as a Guest Designer today..

This week's colours are awesome and I had a lot of fun playing with them -

I really wanted to use a new sentiment stamp by Pink Fresh Studio and I thought it would work well with the Flower Shop stamps by Stampin' up.

I stamped and punched the flowers in Orange and Red to fit the colour theme.

I die-cut my green MFT scalloped stitched rectangle frame and before I stuck it down, I positioned it where I thought it should go and then stamped my sentiment - teeny tiny bit OCD.

I love how it turned out, it actually feels really fresh and spring like, despite the rich colours.

Challenge ends at 6pm EST on Monday November 21st.

Holiday Extravaganza...

Hey,

Happy Monday.

I had a great weekend and I am really not mentally ready for work this week, I want to continue my fab weekend LOL.

Saturday's class was awesome and as you can see from the collage today we made A LOT of cards - 22 to be precise. I love it when Cheiron teaches, she is so talented and I always learn something.

To see them in more detail, go to Instagram and search #theinkpadnycextravaganza

Fun times.

We used a lot of items that were new releases, so that was very cool and meant my wallet took a beating..

I especially liked all the new releases by Neat and Tangled and several of those fell into my basket..

Including the set used to make this card -

His arms die-cut so that he can hold things - AWESOME idea..

I also won this great Concord & 9th set, which I am very happy about as I had added it to my wish list, but was planning on sacrificing it's purchase on Saturday to buy my friend a gift instead :)

Here is the card we made in class using the set -

I really love that giant Joy stamp with the slightly smaller die-cuts, lots of possibilities here.

It was a great day, love hanging out with the craftgang and learning new things. I had to really try not to buy too many Christmas / Holiday related stamps, as my Christmas card making is officially complete LOL..

Weird Christmas..

Hey,

Hope you are having a fun weekend so far.

I had a hoot yesterday at class, it was so much fun, hanging with the girls. Lots of makes to be photographed and blogged about - later in the week.

Today I am showing you a card that I made using my favourite Unity Stamp Co. set.

It's called 'Carlee's Christmas' and I really only bought it because of the 'You're weird I like that' stamp!

I love the main image though and it makes a superb Christmas card for a special friend.

I coloured the image with Zig Clean Color brush pens and the die is by Spellbinders, I inked the edge to help it blend with the beautiful card blank (by American Crafts) a bit better.

The little bit of bling at the top is stunning in real life and was a birthday gift from a friend in New Zealand..love a long distance craft gift.

Sketch Saturday #438

Hey,

So I am super pleased to be posting my first card as a part of the DT for Sketch Saturday!!

Whoop Whoop!!

I am so pleased to be joining this very talented group of ladies.

This week's sponsor is Simon Says Stamp who are offering a $25 voucher to their store.

Here is this weeks sketch -

I LOVE Simon Says Stamp and so I thought it would be fun to break out two of their cardkits for this challenge.

The November kit has all these amazing papers and so I used one of those and used it to choose my colours. The blue triangle and the tan panel are scraps from my scrap boxes.

I stamped two sentiments from the October and November kits and for a finishing flourish I stamped and fussy cut a squirrel from the October kit.

I love the wood dots by Teresa Collins and the use of them is seriously rationed!!

Your turn to join in the fun - go over to Sketch Saturday and be inspired by the rest of the DT makes.

Challenge ends 18th November 7pm GMT / 5pm EST.

CASology..Team...

Hey,

Happy Friday.

So I can breathe a bit now, I've had some health issues going on behind the scene and I got some news that makes me happier - great start to what is going to be an AWESOME weekend.

Let's start with CASology shall we? This is the first time I am playing along with the challenge, I loved this week's theme -

It felt topical, this week has really been about Team in my life.

I decided to use the Simon Says Stamp Stacked Animals set, because of the sentiment 'I've got your back' it felt so appropriate.

I love to try my hand at CAS cards and I think that I got it right here..

I used the Crocodile from the set as the main image and had the little Mouse and Birdie stacked on top of him. I played around with the placement of the sentiment, but I am happy with where it ended up.

I coloured all of the critters using Zig Clean Color brush pens and die-cut my white panel using a SSS stitched die.

Tomorrow I will be spending the day with the craftgang being taught by our 'leader' Cheiron - all holiday cards over at the Westbeth Center in the West Village hosted by The Inkpad NYC .

And tomorrow is my also my first ever DT post for Sketch Saturday.

It's going to be a super fun weekend.

Moving Along With The Times..Numbers or Letters...

Hey,

Welcome to another fun Moving Along With The Times Challenge..

This time our Hostess is Judith and she wants us to use die-cut letters or numbers.

I made my card in October when I was at JT's house having a playdate. So none of the items you see on my card are mine - love playing with someone else's stash.

I used a great woodgrain background stamp that JT has and I inked it up with 3 different distress ink blues and spritzed it with water before laying my paper on top.

I love doing this, you always get a great effect and its a total surprise!

I decided that a word banner would work well and rooted through JT's stash and came up with this awesome Die-versions Cheers banner. I die-cut it in a coordinating colour and secured it to the card using mini staples.

It felt a bit bare, so I added some punched stars and some blue bling.

It has already left my desk and is winging its way to a friend.

Show us your creations, but first hop on over to MAWTT and see what the rest of the DT have been making.

Challenge ends on November 23rd at 1pm GMT. You can enter 3 times.

No peeking...

Hey,

I'm on a craft related roll right now. I got featured stamper over at Color Throwdown this week and that means I am the guest designer for next week's challenge. WHOOP WHOOP.

Anyway..back to my post :)

I thought I'd show you the card I made for this week's Unity Stamp Co Facebook Challenge.

It's a Christmas theme this week.

So I thought it would be fun to play with the Pretend You Like This set a bit more.

I used Salty Ocean distress ink on my tag and the background panel and then I stamped the Snowflake from the set in Faded Jeans. The smaller snowflake lives by my desk at this time of the year and is by Simon Says Stamp.

I stamped and die-cut one of the sentiments from the set and die-cut a snowflake to pop under the sentiment.

I added some ribbon and mounted the whole tag onto my background panel.

I like the variation in colour and the slightly smudged sentiment, makes me feel like someone has indeed been peeking and shaking it!

Retro Rubber #51...Colour Challenge..Be Thankful

Hey,

It's time for another superb challenge over at Retro Rubber

We have another colour challenge for you - use the photo as inspiration..

I thought it would be nice to make a CAS card for this challenge, as the colours are so rich.

I used a great stamp set by Simon Says Stamp, that I got with the November 2015 cardkit.

I started by die-cutting a stitched white panel and I stamped the sentiment onto this using an Autumn Leaves Kaleidacolor ink pad.

Then I masked off the sentiment and stamped the leaves around two edges of the sentiment, I used 3 different green distress inks for this.

Super simple, but effective card, that I will be adding to my Thanksgiving stash.

Your turn to show us your interpretation of the photo, but first go over to Retro Rubber and view the great makes by my teammates.

Challenge ends on November 18th. Don't forget to use a stamp a year or older and tell us about it that's part of the fun. Also, please limit your entries to 10 challenges including ours.

This week I'm also entering my card into the current The Paper Players challenge -

Exciting news...

Hey,

Happy Monday everyone.

So remember last week I said I had exciting craft news?

Well I made the Sketch Saturday Challenge DT - YAY!!!

I couldn't believe it when I found out 2 weeks ago, I love sketches and I have played along with Sketch Saturday a lot. So I am super excited to be joining this talented team.

So to celebrate this great news today I am playing along (but obvs not entering!) with the current challenge.

This week's sponsor is Digi Stamp Boutique, they are offering a £10 gift certificate.

I used one of the images from the Bailey Reindeer set and coloured it using Zig Clean Color brush pens.

The floral paper is by American Crafts and is ancient and I don't have much of it left, I paired it with a co-ordinating green square. I added a thin piece of red ribbon for a bit of extra interest and finished off with a snowflake and wooden heart.

The sentiment is by Papermania and both my stitched circle and square dies are by Simon Says Stamp.

I love it, such a sweet image.

Hope you will play along too challenge ends on Friday 11th of November and I'll be back on Saturday 12th with my first DT make for the team.

Concord & 9th Flower Wreath...

Hey,

Hope you are having a good weekend so far.

I'm sharing a card I made with the colouring I did on Day #3 of the current The Daily Marker 30 days of colouring challenge.

I love to colour and I love the 30 day challenges, makes me dig through my stash and colour all the fun things that I haven't seen for a while. It's also really good to hook up via Instagram with my colouring buddies! I've made some good 'virtual' friends through these challenges.

This stamp has actually never been inked..I haven't had it that long, but everything else in the set has been used!

It took me a long time to colour this bad boy..I used my Zig Clean Color brush pens and an aquabrush. I love how the colours blend so well together.

I love Concord & 9th stamps, they are beautiful, especially their flower stamps.

I used Simon Says Stamp dies for this card - a stitched square one and a stitched scallop stand alone die, that I had to move around all four edges of the purple paper - worth it as I am super pleased with the end result.

I added a little banner with a teeny tiny Hero Arts thank you stamp, affixed with a coordinating pink staple!

Silly Monster...

Hey,

Happy Saturday to you.

I am off to Brunch today with Lisette, I am looking forward to that.

But first I thought I'd enter this weeks Color Throwdown.

I FINALLY got my Silly Monsters Two stamps by Your Next Stamp (bought from Supermart..never again) it has been a saga.

So last night I stamped, coloured and die-cut them and I think the colours for this week must have been stuck in my mind, as I unintentionally coloured one of the monsters in the green and orange (I added his spots).

I kept the background simple and used a Tim Holtz tracks stencil with Tumbled Glass distress ink.

I know the sentiment feels a bit Halloweeny, but I actually think it works for a 'girlfriend' - what do you think? Stretching it too far?

I am very happy with my card, it kind of left me with a silly monster grin on my face!

Good or Evil?

Hey,

Happy Friday.

I thought I'd show you a fun little make that I made for a friend.

When the craftgang got together Lisette gave us a load of spare stamped sentiments and the wooden mermaids, so I grabbed one of my fave mini square canvases (super handy for making random stuff) and painted it gold using a Dina Wakely paint that Cheiron gave me for my birthday.

I cut up the sentiment and attached it to the canvas using Glossy Accents, same with the Mermaid.

Super easy and hilarious. I have no doubt the friend who it is going to will love the sassy nature of it.

Have a great weekend, I am off to lunch with Lisette tomorrow and playing at my desk and watching non-stop NFL - YAY!!

Cheeky Christmas Tags...

Hey,

So I recently bought this great set by Unity Stamp Co, I saw a post on their blog and I loved the cheeky sentiments.

I love tags, so thought it would be fun to use these to whip up a batch of tags to take to JT's Mom when I visited her last weekend.

I used a large sheet of water colour paper cut into three, so I could smoosh it in distress ink.

Here's an in progress shot -

Once I finished the backgrounds, I die-cut them using xCut tag dies, kindly gifted to me by JT.

There are x4 sentiments in the set, so I stamped two of each and chose stamps that would work for what I had in mind.

Lawn Fawn Winter Critter stamp for three of them (Penguin, Bunny and Owl) and the Reindeer is by Clearly Besotted.

Because I didn't want to lose the beauty of the backgrounds I only coloured a couple of areas of the critters - works well I think, you get to see the backgrounds.

I die-cut the holes (the tag dies comes with x2 sizes of hole dies) and added navy blue ribbon - which I stupidly did not photograph.

Super easy to make and fun and cheeky too.
